Caregiver Pilot Program (Ended on June 17, 2024. New program is going to be announced at the start of 2025)
Eligibility
1. One year full-time (30 hours a week or more) work experience of one of the job titles below inside or outside Canada:
Home child care provider (NOC 44100)
- You must care for children in your own home or in your employer’s private home.
- The location can’t be an institutional setting such as a daycare.
- You don’t need to live in your employer’s home to qualify.
- Experience as a foster parent doesn’t count.
Home support worker (NOC 44101)
- You must care for someone who needs help from a home support worker in your employer’s private home.
- The location can’t be an institutional setting such as a nursing home.
- You don’t need to live in your employer’s home to qualify.
We’ll submit a work permit application with your permanent residence (PR) application. If you meet the requirements, you’ll get a work permit that lets you work as a caregiver for any employer. After you get at least 12 months of qualifying work experience, we’ll send proof to immgration department and they'll make a final decision on your PR application.
2. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English or IELTS Reading 4.0, Writing 5.0, Listening 5.0, Speaking 5.0
3. Hold the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma or above. Foreign diploma must get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an approved organization. We can arrange an assessment for a fee.
4. Plan to live outside the province of Quebec as a permanent resident.
5. Full-time job offer in Canada. Our fee does not include job searching.
Note: The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot come to a close on June 17, 2024. A new caregiver pilot program is going to be announced. It will allow caregivers to continue to come to Canada and this caregiver pilot programs will be permanent.
