Study Permit

Study permit is a document that allows foreigners to study at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada, including all elementary and secondary schools and most universities or colleges. Foreigners need a study permit to study in Canada. You must apply before traveling to Canada.

A study permit is not a visa. It does not allow you to enter Canada. Some students also need a visitor visa. Residents from Visa-exempt countries must apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA) online.
